nature offers the best gifts
Sunday we had plans to gather and celebrate one of my sister’s birthdays. She had requested a beaded halter, with her horse’s name beaded on the noseband. I managed to pull it off, but wasn’t thoroughly impressed with the final result, hence no picture. But, I gave it to her and now have learned my lessons about how to make it better next time. So, i guess she was my prototype. But, in an effort to make up for my feeling of imperfection, I went outside to blow off some steam. I discovered a remedy to my desire to create beauty. After gathering up a colleciton of dried flowers, herbs, and ground covers, I grabbed a random little tin plant holder that was homeless in my garden and headed inside. There I found some white beans from when we lived in Alaska, obivously they weren’t going to be eaten. I threw them in the cleaned out tin pot , and began arranging the dried flowers. I then got out the felt and embroidery thread, cuz I can’t just not embellish, and made a homemade felt card. Cool. I could actually head to the party without embarassment for a gift. If you know artists, we can be our own worst critic at times. So, I was hard on myself about my craft, but know I will improve on my beaded bridle idea regardless. Motto: Get Outside, get in mother nature, not only will you find beauty in the ultimate form of expression and creation, but you find peace, resolution, inspiration and FREE GIFTS!!!
