For the past two weeks, since finishing the newest sewn items for the store, Riley has been begging me for a bear of her own. I have continuously promised her on a daily basis, “yes, baby, I promise, I’ll will make you one, maybe not today, but I will make one for you.” Her little face would sadden a bit, but her eyes were light with hope, that yes, her mama would indeed make her her very own special squeeze bear………not just one for the store. Being a woman of my word, and my heart aching to get her bear done as much as I knew hers was aching to get one, i finally found a few sacred moments in my day to light up my little girl’s life. She excitedly picked out her fabric of choice and then decided that she wanted a butterfly on the front. Today, is the day her hopes were answered. Nothing moves me more than seeing my daughters’ faces light up when they get  an item that I handmade for them. They are so appreciative, and they cherish it because they have hovered over me at every step, checking on their gift’s  progress after a bath or a meal. They know all that went into this little piece of love. And, I can only hope that this little bear will be as lucky as the velveteen rabbit and live a life of  being loved to pieces. As she tucked her little bear ever so carefully into bed with her tonight, I had hope that my wish just might come true.
