Inspiration
For those of us that like to create, inspiration can come from many different places. Sometimes the materials used areĀ inspiriring, or our surroundings, or personal life experiences, or a certain special someone. Even a cause or passion can become inspiration for creation. Many times we are inspired by other artists and crafters. For me, Amy Karol is inspiration. If you haven’t heard of her, she has a book called Bend The Rulse Sewing, a must have for those of us who have little tiny windows of opportunity to create. Her projects are great and easy to follow and not perfectionistic (anal.) and you can get as personal and creative with them as you want. Her blog is one that I visit daily for witty comments, ideas, resources and to just relate to another stay at home mom who still finds time to create. She’s also open minded about other’s using her patterns to make items for sale. It’s a big ‘ole sharing thing, I love it. Awhile ago, she had some instructions about making your own iron on patches out of scrap fabric and putting them on cherished items. So, I put some together and there are some for sale over at the store in the simply sewn section. They are so cute, It makes me want to have a baby to put them on………But, being that we have two new babies in our family and my sister is expecting, I think I’ll just shower them with these instead!
