I love working with fiber. When I discovered I could make little figurines, or virtually anything out of fiber, I was floored. Working with texture, color, shape, and contrast in a 3D spectrum was such an awakening after spending so many years in the 2D field of photography. I like how a piece starts as an idea and you can literally watch it manifest before your eyes as you create, shape, sculpt, add, subtract, and even the end product comes out a little different than you originally intended. It starts to have a life of its own. 2 years ago I made nativity scenes for the Patrick’s family. The dolls were about 6″ in height and a donkey or sheep came with the three most important people. This year,Kara Worthen, my dear friend and comrade in the jewelry making world, commissioned me to make minature nativity dolls for these awesome advent calendars my aunt got us all several years ago.

Each day has a door that is opened and contains a special gift. Kara ordered two sets, the three major players and I added a sheep to each. I’m really happy how they came out.

Someday I’ll have enough time to be making all this stuff for our own house !!!!
