Be a part of something
I was recently moved by the latest essay found in the catalog of one of my favorite companies on the planet, Patagonia. This year, Patagonia’s campaign is “Freedom to Roam”, a long term initiative dedicated to establishing migration wildways for animals between protected land areas.

Global warming is forcing wild animals to shift habitats. If migration is blocked by human development (suburbs, highways, gas and oil rigs) many species may not survive the next century! Scientists predict what they are calling the sixth mass extinction where all that will remain is a planet of weeds whose wildlife consists of pigeons, crows, rats and cockroaches. Not something I would like to leave behind for future generations.
As an advocate for wildlife and the wild spirit in us all, a business, and a creative soul, this year you will find much support and inspiration for this campaign through the products created at Zen Tree Acre. You will notice that a portion of proceeds from such products will be dedicated towards this cause. You will find continuous themes in the products that reflect wildlife and its beautiful diversity. For example, I recently made these bear and horse fetishes out of polymer clay. Some will be incorporated into jewelry, others free-standing collectibles.

So, don’t be a stranger, check in often and join the effort for positive change.

This fetish and others will be available through Zen Tree Acre, and a portion of the purchase will go to Freedom To Roam. This bear fetish was created by the Zuni indians of the southwest. If you’re not familiar with animal fetishes for meditation, here’s a breif summary; […]
