This weekend Patrick and I had the awesome chance to get away, as a couple, without kids (thanks Dad!). After dropping the kiddies off at the hot pool (my dad’s hot tub), settling Dingo in at Liz’s (one of my moms) boarding house, off we headed to the Enchanted Circle. Back in October, we purchased ski passes to Angel Fire at the 2007 ski swap. This was the last weekend the mountain was open and we were desperate to get some telemark turns. Our efforts proved fruitful. Bright sunny 60 degree weather, perfect spring snow conditions and virtually no-one else but us taking advantage of it all. Well that’s what it seemed like, when every run we headed down, we were the only ones on it.

Yah! Patrick, drop that knee, free the heel…………………rockin’

Stacey coming out of a fine turn. Look at that form!

That night, after what was basically 5 hours of leg lunges, while we could still walk, we headed over to the Lucky Shamrock Bar and Grill located just across from our humble abode lovingly called the Econo Lodge.  It had been a VERY LONG time since we shot a game of pool, picked songs from a juke box, and literally took a minimum of two hours to sip beers and eat burgers and hot wings.

Next morning we headed on a scenic drive towards Cimmaron, then back to Angel Fire for another day of awesome skiing. When our legs were wet noodles and our beer boggled minds from the night before had all they could take, we headed home. But, we took the scenic route through Mora, Penasco, and little villages I had never even heard of. We felt like we were in another country heading down these backroads of high desert mountainous areas mixed with farm lands and old still thriving Hispanic homesteads.

Would you say we had a BLAST? You bet we did.
