So, this is going to be quite the page. I am going to attempt to enter the highlights of April/May 2008 in order to get caught up on this blog. First things first. You will notice a new look to the blog. Simple, clean, peaceful. Just what I need after whirlwind of a month and a half. One cool thing about this new layout is in the section where the links and categories are to the upper right, you will notice a small box with an x. click on this x and that section is hidden so you can focus on the posts. When you want to see the category list and the links again, just click on the x a second time. Cool, eh? With that said, let’s move on.

We ended April with Riley’s 6th birthday! For the party planner (me) this became a bit of a fiasco. She wanted a Wolf party theme. Well, just an FYI, there is no market for wolf party themes in the children’s section ( i did not know this before promising her). Even here, in NM where our university mascot is the Lobo, coming up with a cake that didn’t cost $75 and party decorations/ favors that had even an inkling of a wolf on them was non-existent. It’s not very common that some little kid wants to party down with wolves on their birthday. So…. we opted for a cake with a forest scene, grabbed some plastic forest animals and made the wolf the center of attention.

The Cates (some family friends) donated some Lobo items and I managed to put some little items, center piece and balloons together. And, Riley, well she loved it.

She was showered in gifts, and love. Her favorite was her Hannah Montana guitar she got from Gram-Z

Patrick showed her a few chords, and she is just all Folk singer here

Just after her peaceful country girl personality partied out, her redneck side emerged as Patrick presented her with her “coming of age” gift

Yep, a BB Gun, and let me tell you something, this little girl is one hell of a shot!
