Well, we finally made it through the month of May! Towards the end, we found time to slow a bit. First things first, a breakfast for the country hearted. Abigale has decided that she really enjoys baking. She even mixes her own ingredients and proportions, and I have to admit, she’s getting quite good. But, on this particular cool sunny morning, Patrick was in charge of the cooking part. Although the eggs didn’t come from our chickens (yet) they are local and of all different sizes and colors. It’s a beautiful thing. What better way to celebrate than spelling out one’s name in pancakes!

Riley relaxed and waited patiently under our Globe Willow tree for her meal. She wrapped her bare body in this nice fleece native print style blanket and watched the sun slowly rise.

With breakfast in our bellies, we became inspired by the awesome taste of fresh free range chicken eggs. So, we let our chickens out to graze on all our weeds. This creates alot of giggles out of the girls. The Chickens are in heaven, and it brings us such joy to just watch them be happy as they “peep” around the yard in bliss.

We’ve actually begun to let them out in the evening as we sit on the deck and eat dinner. We then tend to gravitate to a blanket on the grass/weeds where we lay and make-up stories to go along with the chickens’ adventures. Our favorite is, as we can barely see the tops of the chickens’ heads over the weeds in what was once the sandbox…. we imagine the chickens as dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and every once in awhile you can hear the scream of a little imaginary person. I know a little twisted, but we laugh.
